Our values

Loyalty to everyone.
It is a cardinal value, the foundation of a family. The solid groundwork without which the house cannot stand. But what do we mean by loyalty?

Science, wisdom, conviviality, humor, kindness, beauty, creativity, and nature are the salt of life, following the teachings of Jesus. We strive to incorporate as much of them as possible into our lives.

This salt and honey are the sap of the tree that produces fruits like intelligence, happiness, cohesion, wealth, health, and deeper forms of fulfillment.

Science is about understanding the world, the elements, and embracing the logic of mathematics to grasp the articulation of artifacts. It is about understanding physics to comprehend the orchestration of our world, and biology to witness in Gaia the richness of our planet. Dietetics guides us to live a healthy life, our primary wealth.

Wisdom is the ability to make the right choices. It is about orienting our sail in the best way according to the wind. We are not the cards but the poker player. We constantly challenge ourselves to make the best choices and to seek tools that help us make those choices. For example, working effectively is better than working hard to achieve the same result. Using mnemonic techniques to learn your lessons, like those listed here, can be an efficient way to retain information.

Conviviality means that everyone should feel happy when we are gathered. We work towards this goal: cheerfulness is a form of politeness.

Humor means telling jokes, making puns, or laughing at situations. Sarcasm and irony should be avoided as much as possible. Self-mockery is acceptable, but mocking others is not.

Kindness and politeness are about recognizing the humanity of others, seeing them as unique beings who deserve dignity.

Beauty is the promise of happiness.

Creativity is about transcending the simple condition of being a capitalist consumer to reach a more elegant form of humanity—one that ennobles human nature.

Nature is the smell of humus, the singing of birds, the dance of branches through sunbeams, the melody of a stream, the passing of a squirrel, and the flight of a woodcock—an ever-present source of wonder. Nature is part of human awakening.

The teachings of Jesus, and more broadly the entire teachings of the Old and New Testaments, are the blueprint for a fulfilled life. Walking in the footsteps of Jesus and listening to His teachings is the truth to follow.

Social networks, gossip, pornography, video games, and the media often bring vulgarity and distraction into our lives. We limit their presence as much as possible.

Gossip: Never say anything about someone that you would not say to their face.

Courage is a core family value. It is about asking the right questions—questions that matter and challenge us to think deeply.

The 5-Minute Rule. Every person who enters our home should feel welcome, at any time and without warning. Each occupant pauses their activities to dedicate 5 minutes to the newcomer.

Meals are precious moments in the day. As we each go about our activities, Olga, the best chef of the kitchen, brings us together for a sanctified moment. To fully enjoy this time, we minimize distractions and do not answer the phone.

Hospitality is a value. Guests are treated like family members. They are offered a drink, a comfortable seat, and a kind ear, whether they stay for five minutes or the whole evening.

Everyone should feel free to be themselves, without fear of judgment. Welcome and kindness are more important than the ideal of perfection.
